I am a practising Clinical Psychologist, with over 20 years experience working in the NHS in England and Wales. I have specialised in working with Older Adults and people living with Dementia since 2012, including working in mental health and stroke acute care. My work has enabled me to develop specialist expertise in the application of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) in practice. I am skilled at carrying out mental capacity assessments in relation to a range of decisions, from care or finance to more complex or high risk decisions.
I provide regular consultation, advice and formal training on Mental Capacity to various professionals.
I am experienced and expert in understanding the cognitive consequences of a range of different types of dementia and the implications of these for decision making.
Specialist areas includes safeguarding around domestic abuse in later life and the effects of undue influence on decision making.
